The plot is kind of taking a turn in the last third! I feel like time passes oddly quickly, but maybe that’s just how it’s written. The author’s describing a conversation one moment, and then she’s like, “and then five years passed.”
It’s good, though! I’m excited to see how it ends— if it will go all the way to her death or if the story will end before then.

I’m almost near the end! I also spilled water all over the book…sorry. It’s still readable, just…soggy?

This is going well so far. I like seeing Eleanor evolve as a character, and I’m especially enjoying hearing about the political situation in England at that time and King Henry’s improvements.

I’m really enjoying this so far! It’s set in a time period I don’t know a lot about and so I’m gaining a lot of knowledge about twelfth century France/Aquitaine (hopefully the majority of which is accurate).
I like the main character a lot, and the book is, for the most part, ahead of its time. However, there are often instances where the date of its publication (1955) is very apparent.

I like this book so far-- it's an interesting hook. You have to take into account that it was written in the fifties and that informs its view of women, society, etc.
There is a lot of exposition in the first chapter and a lot of names, places, and relationships to keep track of.
