Started, "The Bear". Very interesting footnotes about astronomy/etymology. ('Arctic', 'Arcturus', king 'Arthur'... huh! It, too, "came from the stars"... and we're not even at the Kaali impact event that possibly inspired some content of the still-coming runes.)
Side note: Anxious to see the Finnish film about Kullervo, although my least-favourite corner of this epic.

The "Grissom" page. Sampo being stolen. Kullervo long since left behind, but yes, his tale --even though least favourite-- was fine to read again. Looking fwd 2 film, this year.

Approx.; starting at Ilmarinen's tale, next -- the metal bride.

80p later: leaving Lemminkäinen, Tiera, & their cares-turned-into-horses. For some weird reason, now looking forward to Kullervo (starting w/ the next rune/canto); even though some time ago, I rather "dreaded" that bleak stand-alone(-ish) side-plot of the epic. Going 2 pause/put Kalevala away (mustn't neglect other readings) 4 a while, though -- & I wonder how I'll enjoy walking w/ Kullervo whenever I get back 2 it.

Finished (23.06.02): Canto/Rune #17. Aiming to see documentary on Akseli Gallen-Kallala; and re-view "Jade Soturi". (Perhaps also look / listen into Sibelius' related work?)
