... and this is as emotionally upsetting to me as when an older, more learned and therefore careless childhood friend explained to me that when I thought I was seeing my mother's face, I was really just registering light reflections off her and that, really, we are all living in existential darkness. I may not be able to truly believe in Jesus as Man/God, but the idea of coexistence with the Divine is comforting.

In the first of Glernter's 4 explanatory chapters, "Separation", he explores the relationship between Jewish law and holiness, showing how Judaism creates holiness in living by separating Jewish living and being from all other existence. Not too difficult a concept to grasp and respect. But the chapter "Veil" goes into the ABSOLUTE intangibility and ineffability of God, how God and man NEVER essentially meet.
