I've heard it's VERY 'reddit-esque' and the language and style is very modern. Do you find that to be true?

Do you find that to be true?"idk that i'd go so far as to say "reddit-esque"? certainly it's a style of irreverent humor i don't particularly enjoy, topped with a kind of gutter-fantasy vibe that i have found in a lot of modern fantasy that tends to fall under what ppl consider "grimdark" that tends to be my least favorite of the genre. it's not egregiously modern in its slang (nothing as glaring as finding teenage slang from 2024 in it or anything) but the style is definitely a more modern take than i typically prefer. i've read worse but i've also read much, much better
