The rueful jabs, demanding the world owe them more than what they already are born into. And the women, quiet in the background, caretakers who dare to be bored of sex with these imaginary oligarchs.

oh hell no, the mother doesn't believe Anna as her first instinct? Mentions that it's a mother's instinct to watch her daughter's food intake, down to the bite, but not notice her daughter is wasting away and withdrawing? This book is misogyny dressed up in similes. I need to finish this tonight, b/c I am NOT going into the new year with this energy.
