It is so interesting to hear Hucks internal monologue about what is good and what are the costs of good. He makes an argument that being good and not doing good often make you feel the same way… and that the wages are the same. I guess I appreciate his child like way of understanding good as more nuanced than we’d like to think. Or bad as more nuanced as bad can be good and whatnot

Can’t get into this like I could with James, but it makes sense. I can see why this is a very American novel though for sure in a lot of ways, good and bad.

Slower goings on this one… my period and work has had me crashing out and exhausted. Hopefully I’ll have much time to read over my mini break.

So glad I read James first bc now reading this my whole character read of Jim is completely different.

Poor Huck like damn fuck this guy !

I fear this book is going to be underwhelming compared to “James”. I do keep my high hopes though but I am very tired… so no more reading of Huck’s story tonight !

The foreword and introduction were very long (not really but I just wanted to get into the story), but it did raise a ton of questions I might not have asked in the end! Just going to start chapter 1, wish me luck. I’m excited.
