Victoria as a self harmer, do you think this book might be difficult for me to read?

EG That's a good question, and I'm not sure. The book is aimed at a wide audience (not just therapists but also those who have self-harmed and those who want to understand the self-harm of loved ones), so the material is handled in a pretty sensitive way. I think it's probably quite an empowering read in places, because it is completely non-judgmental in nature and uses recent research to help explain the cycle of self-harm.

However, there are fairly frequent direct quotes from people explaining why/how they have self-harmed, so I don't know if you'd find some of those difficult to read. It also has a warning at the beginning encouraging readers to be careful and to put the book down if they find anything triggering (or to read it with a friend/counsellor/partner). Maybe it would be worth reading some more reviews on other sites to see what other people think too?
