I hate this book and if it weren’t a book for book club I would have abandoned it by now. I suspect I’ll be a minority opinion but oh, well.

Three of the praisefluffs on the back cover say how great a storyteller Niall Williams is. I had to laugh.
His writing is closer to poetry than to prose and poetry is terrible at telling a story.
