i’m actually floored that an early, long, thoroughly researched essay in this book is about plagues and pandemics, what causes them, and the cultural response to them. this book was published in 2020! which means this author watched her book become out of date immediately after it was published. and probably freaked out about the insane coincidence. it’s actually making me feel panicky
