This is a deeply disturbing & emotionally heavy book. The subject matter involves sexual assaults of very young children, which makes the narrative difficult to tolerate despite being compelling. The mother’s response is particularly troubling; despite being a nurse, she minimizes the severity of the abuse & appears disconnected. In contrast, the father’s decision to separate & protect the daughter is understandable.

This is starting off good! One thing I don’t like is that Noah’s mom sounds like she’s enabling her son. There is a trigger warning on here for child molestation.
