Difficult to believe that this was published only ten years ago. The attitude, the political description, and even some tech are so dated and outdated.
Oh and we've had a fifth female character's hairstyle mentioned in passing (no make ones yet).

Does this author have a hair fetish? That's four female characters now (two of whom are very minor) who've had their hairstyle (and other aspects of their appearance) dissected and analysed in great detail.

Also science fiction authors should be banned from writing about sex. They're awful at it. I'm actually wincing and cringing each time he brings it up. 😬

Wow, we're checking out yet another character's hair in detail? Really?
I'm back to skipping paragraphs to get to actual details that advance the plot. Already, this could have been about 75 pages shorter.

Wow the first 20 or so pages of this were super boring but I’m glad I pushed thru them. (Do I really need to know why three side characters cut their hair a certain way?) Improving now.
