added a status update
Red flags go up the second I read a horrible review and then look at their acc to see that almost every single book has 1 star and more horrible reviews😬 I think there are literal accounts on here MEANT for hating on books like I’m confused

i also find it a bit suspicious that you comment on my review and then post this…this is just not cool tbh
This is a general comment! I did see and comment on your post and that served as one of many I’ve recently seen (from other people) which prompted this- it’s totally fine not to like a book, I have reviews like that too, but it’s different when every review on a page is bashing the books and authors, even without reading the actual books! This is not targeted, but general as I believe books are a gateway to everyone’s own experiences, fantasies, stories, backgrounds and more! We should uplift each other, and if not, respect genres or books that may not be our personal thing but someone else’s💗 It’s okay to dislike a book, but be respectful about it and actually read it before voicing a judgmental opinion! Goes for all readers out there:)
i respect what you said but i’m allowed to do what i want in my profile. i have a shelf called authors i’ll never read because the books have very weird tropes imo, and i’m allowed to express my opinion. why would *i* wanna read about foster siblings fucking? that’s just weird. if you like these books, i’m not judging. they are just not for me and i’m okay with that :) not every book needs to be read to be disliked, some dark romances romanticize rape/abuse/SA and this is wrong. some people would wanna read these books, but these alerts can be helpful in case they find them triggering 🩷 i read dark romance but only when it doesn’t romanticize these themes. books that have these themes should not even be called dark romancealso, i don’t bash authors (excluding some which i mention in my reviews). for instance, CoHo defended her son when he harassed a girl. this is disgusting behavior regardless of if you are a fan or not. i’m not a fan of authors who romanticize themes like this and they deserve to be held accountable

i think some people just maybe have different opinions and have decided to write reviews that reflect their own view on the book

god forbid someone's a picky reader and decides to share their opinion on app made for sharing opinions.
@salma like i'd say im relatively easy to please but when i've read read smth objectively BAD i will be writing a slander review like the last review i did was a slander review 💔 ofc making your entire acc full of slander reviews is a bitch move but esp when homophobes, sexists or racist review books w feminism, queer rep or poc characters thats obviously problematic but ppl who js didnt like the book and are really hard to please r 100%valid as long as they're not hating on books for problematic reasons
There are many accounts on here who have pages dedicated to hating unfortunately, and it’s not just me who’s mentioned it. That’s what this was for! I understand that yours is different, and again I do believe in our freedom of opinion and expression. my message was about respectfulness to ALL! I didn’t include any tags or names in this bc it was a general message😭 I’m sorry that this was taken out of context girl I just want everyone to be kind and nonjudgmental as the book community is so diverse and something we can continue to learn and grow from

this is an app for reviewing and for voicing your opinion (unpopular or not) whether or not you agree with the reviewers insight, it still doesn’t give you the right to claim that they write “horrible reviews” just because they don’t voice the same opinion as you 😭
When I say “horrible reviews” I mean that they’re calling the book horrible, and in some scenarios that’s okay!!!! I’m specifically talking about pages dedicated to hating certain genres or things like that- I wish I could post screenshots on here I just feel like I’ve seen so many, which is what promoted this! God forbid a girl wants the book community to be more united or understanding within our diversity😭
I agree with that- who cares if someone doesn’t like or doesn’t want to read what you read! It’s just strange when they still post reviews bashing it after admitting they’ve never read it lol (and they don’t have to, but why be cruel abt it?)

Unfortunately there are hate pages full of books of all kinds: YA, regular romance, fantasy, everything. I’m specifically talking about the random hate, as in like rage bait or troll pages who are only on here to upset the whole community! Of course there are also specifics for genres and moral issues as well- ig I should have been more specific😬
I’m just sick of seeing all the negativity. Hateful, mean, negativity, not constructive or objectively accurate! That’s all. Just asking for kindness😭
I love to read and to share with the community, and even if it’s negative, there’s always a positive, even if that means just knowing I don’t love that genre and will move on to something new! I use my page to promote reading of all types, even if I focus on dark romance, I respect appreciate and admire all others’ choices:) I love how we can all find peace or pleasure in such different stories, and we should uplift our differences. When it comes to the more serious stuff, that’s a different story and conversation.
