The TLDR: I read this in college, and found it helpful. I reread it last year, took copious notes, and found it helpful. I'm rereading it again at the start of 2026 (per ISO standards, week 1 of 2026 started on 29 December 2025) so I can use the framework to read more deeply, take better notes, and get more out of my reading journey than updating the Goodreads challenge.

Secret agenda: I'm not just reading this to increase my understanding of what I read, but also to improve my own writing. If I know the things I should look for, I can make sure those things stand out on my work.

There was an article in Inc. magazine recently about how people on TikTok are building "personal curricula" to stave off brain rot. Funny that they're doing this on TikTok. That's what I'm really doing here on Goodreads, and Letterboxd, and in my journals. I picked this book as a tool to help me in these explorations. Pick a topic you're interested in. Read a book, or several, about it. Watch docs. Write about it.
