I tried to read this once, thirty-some-odd years ago, with similar results. Same with Moby Dick, which I finally got through in my thirties. I've been meaning to give this one another go... maybe I won't rush;)
Thanks Dave for backing my decision. I'm sorry you went through it all the way. Though I know plenty people who love the book.
