The ending was kind of whatever? I didn’t know why we spent so long with Robert and his harrows. Like it was super literary. But I feel like some episodes were stronger than others. And we became more uninteresting as we reached modern times.

Sorry haven't been updating. This continues to be really good! The doctor treating the schizophrenic thing was a bit weird and drawn out and I'm not really sure how it ended. I love the continued imagery of people who buy the house and see the portraits of the sisters on the wall and the descriptions of the decimated former apple orchard. The insect transition was really clever to show passage of time.

Ok it got really good with the letters between William and Erasmus… and then sodomy. Was that really necessary. I mean yeah it was because then we don’t get the caregiver of William in his old age getting jealous and burning the letter that would have allowed them to meet again in their old age. And now—new owner’s wife thinks she can HEAR the sodomy. Do we have to do this in order to get the Pulitzer now?

The beginning of the absconding puritans is delightful and sets the stage. Something of the occult and sinister always. I felt he spent two long with the apple sisters but I guess it was the prime for more discussion of apples. I liked the murder of the man bounty hunting the slave girl. I like this more than Homegoing as far as episodic novels go and less than Olive Kitteridge.
