It's absolutely amazing. I'm rereading it. I last read it maybe 30 or 40 years ago! I knew it had impacted me, because I make references to it in my own novels. Things like the moving expressway strips!
But rereading it! Yes it's still as crazy awesome!
When I was a kid my favourite author was Agatha Christie, then I discovered Dune and Tolkien and got hooked on SFF. But still I love whodunits. Asimov's Foundation is full on sci-fi, but Caves of Steel is really a Whodunit in sci-fi clothing. And yet the robot element is totally important to the story. The way human and robot interact ... all that stuff. One of the best books ever written IMO.
