It’s taking me forever to finish this because of life things and because my interest has waned a bit. The names are too weird (Ivy Helix, Marigold Brightly, SEPTIMUS BUBBLE?!?) and it’s distracting. Also distracting are the Harry Potterisms and italso reminds me of the second book of the Nevermoor series. Characters are way too obviously evil or red herrings. A little subtlety goes a long way!

This is gonna be good! I liked Daisy straight off. And it’s going against the grain as far as what’s normal for children’s fantasy. Daisy’s mom! This also seems to be an interesting mix of real-world and portal fantasy. The series takes place in the real world and present time but there’s hints of magic…involving plants. But no real magic yet! A dude with a last name like that is going to be shady.
