The two gentleman of Verona, the only shakey that is mostly (you could argue) not patriarchal. My julia, whenever she stood her ground and actually I don’t know, had real things to say, my faith was restored in literature. She did forgive her fella too quick but you can’t expect shakey to be THAT much of a feminist. We’ve all read taming of the shrew, we know how a seemingly strong written woman can crumble.

I think this may just be a new favourite of mine. The strong female characters, with Julia being an almost heroeine were incredible. The emotions were so developed and they actually had personalities. Although I do fear my lovely, hilarious Julia was way too down bad for Proteus and forgave that man far too quickly. Sylvia was divine and stood her ground which you don’t often see in plays like this. I loved it.
