Bitch: On the Female of the Species is climbing to the top of my list of favorite, most-recommended books—not just for women interested in science (and animals), but for men too, prompting a more critical eye toward the “handed-down-by-god” evolutionary theories that have too often been treated as immutable truth, reinforcing deeply ingrained biases.
