Im reading this in Early Jack Vance Volume 5 as the first novel in the omnibus. Its a shock reading this book because the great literary talent, styles of Vance is absent so far from this pulpy not in a good way story.
Irish adventurer Paddy Blackthorn is saying things in broad,red Irish cliche way that Vance never would write later when he had invented the Vancean style,prose, imagination.
