Studying Jane Austen, her works, & her family (including descendents) is like studying the bible - each side (multiple sides really) can takes bits and pieces of that study and use it to support their view. I think that's just literature in general though.

Wait. Since I'm pretty passionate about Anne McCaffrey's Pern books, does that make me a McCaffreyite?

I will say, my two top favorites are Persuasion (because I love 2nd chance romances) and Sense and Sensibility (because of the strong family bond between the sisters and yes, even the mother). Strangely, Mansfield Park & Pride and Prejudice are tied for 2nd place after the first two.

I'd rather say I'm a fan of some of her works (though if I had to apply one of those terms, a 'mild Austenite' or 'casual Austenite' would be ok) since she's an historical (I probably should say 'a historical' since I'm American but the other way sound better to my ear) figure, so can only really know about her at a removed casual historical level (unless I ever decide to really dig into her family history).

Personally, I love Netflix's adaptation of Persuasion.

Lady Catherine dancing a version of the twist. I would have paid to see that. *lolololololololo*
