At first Rachel the lead character exasperated me. Her desire for designer clothes, buying on a whim etc is so alien to me that I found it an uncomfortable yet compelling read. I just had to find out where it would all lead. Therefore I failed to see the humour in this book that other readers enjoyed. Maybe I am taking it all too seriously.
