my harvey moment was while reading looking for alaska in middle and high school. to see john green express his moment understanding the importance of hope—even if he doesn’t necessarily know in what, yet—is so meaningful to me because that is exactly how i felt after that book

i think why i love this so much is that it reminds me of weird but true books and i used to devour those as a kid. but also philosophical!

i forgot how much i missed john green’s voice in writing until i opened up the first page and couldn’t stop smiling. he was one of the predominant narrators of my teenage years through his fiction. to have him again in my 20s as a nonfiction writer and learn about his life beyond the pieces he’s “written in code” is beyond delightful. i already know from the jump this is one of my new favorite books
