Okay, I am NOT enjoying this so far. I think Rae is supposed to be quirky and relatable in the way that she keeps using 21st century prose in a medieval magical world, but the second-hand embarrassment is irritating me to no end. I don’t particularly like any of the side characters, and haven’t really connected with the story… BUT some reviews say it’s worth getting through, and I have a stubborn streak - so on we go
