Another thought about the squire, but also managed to brag about it to everyone in Bristol about his secret treasure hunt. And then hired the one-legged man himself, who "helped" him hire the rest of the crew. And Jimmy boy doesn't notice anything!

the Squire... I mean, I guess he represents a spoiled rich person very well. Realised there's a treasure, and buys a boat to find it.
(if he lived today, he'd probably end up doing something like getting small submarines to try and get closer to the Titanic. Oh, wait...)

I am re-reading this book as part of our work book club that I host, and I am enjoying it so much!
A few thoughts and observations I have so far:
* Billy Bones explicitely tells our Jimmy boy: "DO NOT TRUST THE ONE-LEGGED MAN!" multiple times. The first time Jimmy boy sees a man with one leg, he's like - Naah, can't be him, he's kind. Come on, Jimmy, how often do people with this description visit your dad's pub?
