When the clock strikes green, they move to the North wall along with other creatures with green tickets.

They have one hour until they enter the lover's domain. CP learned this from the keys at the shop, which constantly got lost. DP and CP are brothers. They pass library books with moving pages, and the books talk to each other about how they got lost! After the field of books is a field of toys and games. BTW, they are riding a rollerskate. They don't see DP. CP is the guide.

Oh, my. There are golden shafts of light coming from above. There is a tower with four clock faces, but instead of telling time, it tells color. That makes me think of "Masque of the Red Death." It looks like a medieval warehouse! The one-handed clock shows the colors of the rainbow (seven). DP is in the north hall, but Jack is wrong. Also, he is the only living thing there. Is this limbo or the woods? Lol

An interesting dynamic is happening with the more valuable things who think they are better than others. PRIDE, for sure. The diamond earrings cannot believe they are being put with baubles and beads. The horror.

They find out that they are not lost yet. They are mislaid. The ticket giver notices the craftsmanship in Jack’s construction (she thinks he’s a toy). They are giving a ticket with a certain color and when the timer rolls back to that color they are lost. They did watch some wrapping paper ascend after being found. Jack wants to get ahead so he switches tickets with someone who showed up before him.

Part I ends at the word “lost.” :-O They descend into darkness for a very long time. It has the feeling of Alice in Wonderland dropping. CP reassures Jack that this is how to enter the Land of the Lost. The audiobook really makes it here. As he falls, the noise is louder and louder and that sure sounds like an inferno to me. Not only that, they are under the TREE so it is the image of the roots of chaos and tangles.

CP slides into another. He asks where Jack is and Jack says he is lost. I wonder if Jack is midway through his childhood. LOL Meanwhile, Toby is stalking them and searching for them furiously.

That is the easiest way to get to the Land of the Lost. Jack suggests the garden. They forgot about Toby and he is a dangerous monster to them. He ends up chasing them under the Christmas tree which is quite different when you are the size of a toy. The lights which looked so small when Jack and his mother put them up are enormous. Walking on presents are like slippery cliffs. He slides into one crevice.

While they are descending down the stairs, he finds out that not everything is awake enough to wake up on Christmas Eve. Aren’t the banisters a lot like the trees in Middle Earth and Narnia? Being used and loved on by humans is what allows that to happen. His duvet is new so it wouldn’t have much love in it. Jack asks why CP is so alert and he does not say. They look for a place for them to get lost.

Ch. 14 Alice in Wonderland images and Jack is surrounded by white “mountains” -- more winter images (Saturn perhaps). He experiences a frightening descent! WHOA!!!!! I wonder if it is ice cold at the core! Now the other shoe drops. No living child who has entered the Land of the Lost as ever come back. I bet when Jack returns there will be a harrowing of the Land of the Lost.
