I vote for all Barnes and Nobles to have a clean romance section in their stores! If dark romance gets a section, why can clean romances?!?
WHOSE WITH ME!!!!!!

(I went book shopping yesterday and got 0 romance books bc most of them that are there are bad 😐)

casserole YES PREACH

Skyler Brooks (✨HIS✨ version) (hiatus) I’ve seen lots of videos showing how to find clean books at B&N basically you just look for books published by certain companies and apparently they only punish clean books but I don’t remember the names of the publishers

message 10: by Katelyn (new)

Katelyn Clean Book Publishers (that I know of)
Covenant Communication Inc.
Sunrise Publishing
Kregel Publications
Bethany House
Thomas Nelson
Revell
Shadow Mountain
Harper Muse

Sophie Sage Ikr! I wish! 😊

message 12: by Olivia (new)

Olivia Tracey Skillful Pen Press is a small publishing company that publishes clean/Christian fiction

message 13: by Eliana (new)

Eliana Come to mine! Dark romance and most fantasy novels basically don't exist since I live in a very high LDS populated (around 90%) area and they don't sell. Although the section is small, romance novels are VERY frowned upon/punishment-worthy still even if they're spice-free. The few I've picked up have 0 physical encounters though (no kissing, no hugging, no hand holding) so if that's what you're looking for, it's perfect!

message 15: by Nick (new)

Nick YES. But also not just the clean romance that like the 50 year old ladies read if you know what I'm talking about 😔🤚 Like YA clean romance 😭

message 16: by Maria (new)

Maria Dar I agree - I always skip over the “spicy scenes”. I mainly try to avoid books with that content anyways, but some books I read will have it and I just pass over them or dnf.

message 17: by Izzy (new)

Izzy Callie we should write a complaint!

message 18: by Izzy (new)

Izzy ChildofGod I try to do that too but I sometimes “Christian” publishers and book will have… unbiblical morals if you know what I mean 🫠

message 19: by Izzy (new)

Izzy Katelyn and Olivia, thank you for the clean publisher recs! Although two days ago I saw there was a Christian publishing company on a book and I looked it up and it ended up being bad! (Not spicy but something else that is not good 😕) idek anymore 😔

message 20: by Izzy (new)

Izzy Eliana, that’s cool!! And I totally get why a some people frown upon romances since most are spicy. But that’s really cool that you have those!

† Lily Acacia Reads † EXACTLY!!!!

message 23: by Shiloh (new)

Shiloh Noelle YESSSSSSSSSS

message 24: by Payton (new)

Payton yarbrough I’M WITH YOU

Syd (dazai’s ver.) YESSS IM WITH YOU! I hate having to look up every book and then end up empty handed

message 26: by Izzy (new)

Izzy Syd, what I do is pick up every book I think that I’d like to get, then look up “key words” on Amazon for each book. But even that doesn’t help 😭

message 27: by ava. (new)

ava. you could try the ya section! I get if you prefer clean adult romance books but there are lots of clean ya romances

message 28: by ava. (new)

ava. @eliana help that sounds horrible 😭😭 im so glad I don’t live there lmao my favorite genres are fantasy and romance (and thrillers ofc but yeah)

message 29: by Izzy (new)

Izzy @ava, I usually read ya and go to that section first but a LOT of the ya genre has inappropriate stuff and spice in it 😔 I wish ya was spice free just in general 😢

message 30: by ava. (new)

ava. Izzy wrote: "@ava, I usually read ya and go to that section first but a LOT of the ya genre has inappropriate stuff and spice in it 😔 I wish ya was spice free just in general 😢"

ohhh yeah true, tbh I haven’t seen any ya romance with actual explicit spice but im sure there could be some lol (I’ve mainly seen it in fantasy but idk) but yeah I feel like it helps a lot to look up books before reading them lol

maïna ˚₊✩‧₊ IM WITH U

message 32: by Izzy (new)

Izzy @ava, there is sadly, most ya books used to be clean but now there is only a small majority in my opinion.
@maïna, YES!

ava. Izzy wrote: "@ava, there is sadly, most ya books used to be clean but now there is only a small majority in my opinion.
@maïna, YES!"

huh? I’ve only read one ya book with spice everything else is pretty clean imo 😭 wait do you mean they have like swearing and kissing and stuff? Idk maybe we have different ideas of what’s clean lol (im not arguing im just curious!)

message 34: by Izzy (new)

Izzy @ava, you’re totally fine! Because I have different beliefs (I’m a Christian) my views could be considered more “sensitive” to the content in books I read. One book that is REALLY bad is If He Had Been With Me (I forgot the author’s name lol), although I haven’t read it, I’ve read reviews from people I know on here that have similar views as I do and it sounds really bad. (They give in detail content warnings, this one has spice btw) yet it’s a really popular book and in the ya genre. I’ve had to return a lot of books for the amount of cussing or content that they have in them (ex. The Reappearance of Rachel Price has a ton of f-bombs in them) even though I usually buy ya books :( does that make sense? 😅

ohhh ok I get that! I guess I’ve never considered swearing as not clean lol for me it’s clean unless it either has actual spice or extremely heavy innuendo and language and stuff like binding 13 lol

Callie Rae ava. wrote: "Izzy wrote: "@ava, I usually read ya and go to that section first but a LOT of the ya genre has inappropriate stuff and spice in it 😔 I wish ya was spice free just in general 😢"

ohhh yeah true, tb..."

there are a lottt of spicy book in the ya section. like lightlark, the belladonna series (it’s kinda spicy towards the end i believe), the assistant to the villian (gets spicy in the third book but the first two are fine), if he had been with me (i once heard this described as a girl sleeping and doing other nasty stuff with a boy while wishing he was a dead guy) are all labeled ya it might not be as bad at your local b&n but most of the time ya is just a label and not really a genre 😭.

ohh yeah I get that, we might have different ideas of what spicy is lmao but yeah those books are all in the ya section where I live and I never thought of them as that spicy (I haven’t read them except Lightlark) but yeah I get that. And yeah I feel like most ya books with spice are fantasy for some reason idk why 😭 (I lwk like it this way because my mom lets my buy any books from the ya section…)

message 38: by Izzy (new)

Izzy @ava, I’m glad you kind of get what I mean 😅
@Callie, I know! It’s so sad! I want to creat a clean bookstore where there is no spice in any of the books there! 🥹

message 39: by Brynlee (new)

Brynlee I feel like they should label the sections and separate them better for people who don't read books like that... (also idk if it already is I'm guessing its not but I don't shop at barns and nobles I don't have the money to spend like $20 a book lol

message 40: by Izzy (new)

Izzy @Brynlee, yes they should! (I don’t shop there either unless I have a spare twenty or with my parents 😂 I mainly buy used books) like a sticker that could be taken off later after purchase or something…

message 41: by Hadley (new)

Hadley Exactly! Barns and Nobels has a section for everything LITERALLY anything but clean romances! Or ANYTHING clean!

message 42: by Izzy (new)

Izzy Hadley, I wish they would recognize it! 😢

YES you totally should!! maybe we can persuade them or something 🤔😝😝😁😁

message 50: by Izzy (new)

Izzy Evelyn, is we get all the people who like and commented on this post and did a ton of polls, we could tell each to message Barnes and Noble headquarters! That may work!
