I feel like Beckett figured out exactly what he wanted to say with his first play and every dramatic work afterward was a challenge to say it with as little effort or words as possible.
The central thesis of the entirety of his dramatic works: It’s stupid (and absurd) to try to find meaning in life.
He’s like the Michael Haneke of playwrights, we’re being punished for wanting to be entertained by a play.
