Major spoilers: what an oddly revealing chapter. Now I don't usually enjoy being told instead of shown what is going on but the density of this book I appreciate it. The Baron is Jessica's father (inbred apparently) and Paul's grandfather. Which he learns upon awakening, he now can see the future and all it's possibilities due to his bloodline and intermingling with the spice? Still not clear on that part. Big twist

Spoilers: damn Yueh. His betrayal came (expectedly and fortold) but it was written so well it was felt and had an impact. I am annoyed that I didn't give this a chance sooner as I am enjoying it and nothing like how I thought it would be (i.e hard to read). Instead I am invested and keen to get through it for its very engaging and refreshing.

Super engaged, Worldbuilding is solid (even on the heavy side, but now with some momentum it's not bad), character development in parallel with story progression is weaved in exceptionally well. The prose is different, with the insight into characters' thoughts it adds a layer of depth to the scenes which other books don't approach in the same way. I see the infatuation with it, keen to see how the story develops

Been enjoying reading this. The Duke, Paul and Hallack are well written for their archetypes. I fear Paul is a bit of a Mary Sue but it's based in the world of his mothers training and that of royal training so it's not ridiculous. They just saw their first crawler and worm in the desert which was a super engaging sequence. It revealed much about the Dukes character (caring more about his men than spice or equipment)

This will take some time to get through (more due to personal life stuff occupying my time) - I want to/need to dedicate time and brain power to reading this as it's very dense. So far a hunter seeker was sent to kill Paul but he demonstrated his swift abilities and killed it first. It's interesting prose and writing style where I get glimpses of characters thoughts and inner monologues - cool and different
