Much sophistry in this first chapter. Seems to ignore the fact that ROK citizens revolted against the very ‘everyday’ that has been laid out in her overview of theory. Not just against DPRK but against their own dictatorships. Author will not admit the far healthier development afforded to South Korea through modernity.

A lot of cope by the author about the NASA korean peninsula satelite picture. Tragedy litters DPRK’s everyday life, even if its not entirely the kim dynasty’s fault. the economic growth experienced by ROK was inherently good given the nations past of being a relative economic backwater. Light = stability
