I love getting homework from my books. To read: The Lauras, by Sara Taylor. A novel about a non-binary protagonist. CW: when the readers wonder what is the sex of the protagonist, is dangerous, it can become an assault, violence that the protagonist encounters, and real people encountered many times. 'Are you a boy or a girl?' is not an innocent ask, it demands to know our genitals, and it has happened by force.
