Darcy and Wickham’s beef needs more. Will it ever be resolved and why is it so important to the plot?

Just finished reading chapter 18. There is drama in town, Darcy has beef with Whickam. Whickam grew up with Darcy, Darcy’s dad loved Whickam as his own, and when it came to the estate details and what was being passed down to who, Darcy complete disregarded him. It seems Darcy was jealous of his dad’s relationship with Whickam. Jane and Bingley ☺️🎉❤️. Miss Bingley 😒😒. Mrs Bennet 😒.
