This was my second attempt at reading this book. I found it difficult to read the first time so gave up after 50 pages, but I have really enjoyed it second time around.

I like Maali and his story, and was surprised by the end. It was also interesting reading about the history in Sri Lanka and the violence and politics of the 1980s/1990s. I can see why this won a Booker Prize!
