Most of this was Homer listing the names of the people fighting and where they came from, and I could have easily skipped that.

It lost me when Jove sent his messenger to Agamemnon. It says that Jove encouraged Agamemnon to sail to Troy, I think, and then it says that Agamemnon gave a speech to his soldiers saying that they were turning around, almost as if it jumped to the future after the invasion of Troy. I’m certain I missed something, which was bound to happen sooner or later in this book.

I finished the first chapter, and it’s definitely a difficult read. It’s pretty good, even if it bounces around topics more than normal.

It’s very slow progress and kind of hard to read. The words are sometimes confusing, but it’s fairly easy to get the gist. It might honestly be a little easier to understand than Treasure Island.
