Aline began a collection that would have enormous influence on Gauguin's art, esp the Moche pieces, dating fr 100-800. Many Moche vessels recall ancient Greek pottery in that they r storytelling pieces, painted w/the doings of gods &men, recording heroic battles &the grisly doom of the defeated. The vessels r thicker &clumsier than the Greek, but painted w/great vivacity, &in the same colors: cream &black terracotta
