Part 3 and 4 have helped take this closer to a 3 star read than 2, despite the awkward amount of thirstiness. Let's see if the ascent continues or not. It's certainly not getting any more original for sure.

All the YA hungry gazing and thirstiness going on is making the asexual side of me cringe very hard but on the other hand I'm glad I'm reconnecting with that side of me again after my emotional whirlwind a couple years ago. Even if it's taking this super derivative YA fantasy book for it.

Temporary DNF. Will get to it when I'm on trip with my parents and have nothing better to do than listen to it. Before that I'll get some physical reading done. Been a while since some good ol snuggle read sesh

Need to get through this faster but every time I put my earphones on there always seems to be a more intriguing thing, be it a video or song, to listen to and I think that doesn't speak the best of this book.

Part 1 finished
Competently written yet nothing remarkable as of yet. Reads like a typical modern adult fantasy that's honestly YA in spirit. It's inoffensive but therefore also boring. The only drive I have to finish this, at least as of now, is this book being a a book club pick because young adults being in competitive settings has grown to be one of my least favourite tropes.
