I went to open goodreads on web and found out that my general rating ave. was 2.50 something and tbh it is not something I am proud of.
This year, I would like to raise my ratings but it is hard if it is against my own self yk T.T like deep in me it did not satisfy me enough to give it a three stars. Heeeelp. This is why I rarely give ratings anymore and just write my thoughts haha

I hate feeling like the world’s grumpiest reader too, but at the same time books don’t deserve 5 stars for just for showing up. How is an author going to improve if we’re all throwing gif bombs and heart emojis? On a more selfish note, how am I supposed to remember what I actually liked when I go back to read these things in the future, if I’m handing everything a 5 star participation trophy?All that to say, I appreciate your 2 star reviews. I like seeing the honest range of opinions. I refuse to read something that has nothing but 5 stars because that’s just suspicious and is usually hiding a trigger.
So many people forget that reviews aren’t meant to be advertisements. And that they don’t have to be written like peer reviewed research articles, with sources and evidence listed. They’re just opinions.
I have very strong feelings on this subject. I also take reading way too seriously lol. So do with that what you will.
