Finished the Fausto Majistral chapter. Goddamn. Admittedly, some of this chapter was a bit of a slog to get through but, in true Pynchon fashion, he can distill it all into passages that just hit you right in the snout. Really enjoying this one.

Finished Mondaugen’s Story. Really felt like the precursor to the psychedelic storytelling Pynchon would later use in Gravity’s Rainbow. Similar themes as well. He is such a master of depicting the horrors of the imperial impulse and how it utterly degrades the soul. Horrifying stuff
