The symbolism of the ancient giant in canto 14… wow. A giant in a mountain made out of different metals to symbolize the different eras in history?? The crack in the metal symbolizing man’s decline?? The fact that he’s leaning most of his weight on the weakest part of his body?? A lot to unpack and I’m excited to dive into all the historical context but even at a surface level it’s so amazing.

Left off in layer 7. The suicide forest really stuck with me 1, because of how elaborate the torture is and 2, it’s the first time the tortured soul seems mad he’s getting tortured. He almost scolds Dante for tearing one of the limbs. That’s never happened before. Idk if that means anything…
