Finally made it to the second portion of this book on adolescence. I will say the first portion on childhood is very depressing and very beautiful. I see this novel as a danish Elena ferrante tale on the classic female coming of age story coupled with the emotional turmoil of living in a deeply misogynistic society, while being uplifted and rooted in deep female friendship and platonic love between women and girls.
