“If an individual on the team is not performing at the level required for the team to succeed, the leader must train and mentor that underperformer. But if the (they) continually fails to meet standards,…cannot improve, the leader must make the tough call to terminate them…” For me to fire someone, I have to have a file inches thick on them. It takes YEARS and energy I can’t focus on my job. Not helpful.

A friend recommended this one to me ages ago and I promised it would be the first book I picked up in 2026. It’s the second, but the first one was a bust at page 12, so likely this will be the first FULL and non-ebook I finish this year, lol.

Yeah, I read another of his books and it seemed very specific to the military. My workplace has the same problem as yours.

Hi Emma, this was recommended to me by a friend who thought it would be helpful to me. Maybe I complain too much about how everything is everyone else's fault, lol. I just feel very powerless when dealing with this one employee, who has the Union on speed-dial and runs to them instead of, I don't know, actually doing the job for which he is paid. It's frustrating, but maybe I'll feel/do better if I own everything as my fault? I'm sorry your workplace has similar issues. I hope 2026 is a good year for you and your job. : )
