While reading Uglies chapter 2, I can hear the sound of yelling and partying from the pretty side of the city. In the scene tally is waiting for her surgery I can feel how excited she is and ancy she is to be pretty. when Tally sneaked over to the pretty side to see Paris could visualize everybody at the party staring at her in the pig mask she had on.

Text to Text I can make connections of my book to Maze runner. Both Maze runner and UGLIES both have leaders trying to make teenagers being changed or tested. In Maze Runner they put teenagers into a labyrinth and test them. In UGLIES the leaders the the dystopian society give them plastic surgery at 16. Both of these books have leaders trying to make teenagers do things out of their capability.

Tally feels she is obligated to have the cosmetic surgery. She goes out to find her friend (the orders of the leaders of the community so she can have the surgery). Before Shay leaves the city Tally tells her that they both need the surgery to get those beautiful big eyes. Tally thinks that unless she doesn't get the surgery done she will be worthless and never see Peris. She will do anything to be pretty.

Tally and Peris are the antagonists .Peris and Tally oppose the pretty ritual. Even though Peris is a pretty he still has his opinion on the turning pretty.
