SUMMARY: The story follows Alex Rider, and his life as a teenage spy. The book takes place in many places but primarily London. The story takes first takes place from 2000-2001. The reason he became a spy was when his uncle died and the spy agency that his uncle worked for approached him and asked him to be a part of them. It is told from a third person as a chronological narrative.

ARCHETYPES: Alex Rider is a quest/journey story. Alex is trying to get information on the Snakehead for ASAS and a bomb called Royal Blue for SAS. He plays the role of a refugee and goes from Bangkok and gets "smuggled" into Australia. This shows a clear journey, the journey, and a main goal or something to accomplish, the quest.

VISUALIZE: In Alex Rider the author visualizes things by making us see things and imagine it in our head. On Pg.124 it says, "He risked a last look back and saw the arena consumed by fire, sparks dancing above it." This is showing that the arena is in flames and it uses words and phrases like "sparks dancing above it", and "consumed by fire" to make sure the reader can visualize it in their head

MAKING CONNECTIONS: I am connected to Alex Rider because we both do martial arts. on Pg. 29 it says, "has been learning karate since the age of six and has reached Kyu grade (black belt)" This connects us because I am also a black belt in tae Kwan do. Me and him both know high level martial arts, and we also both speak French. on Pg. 29 it says, "He is known to be fluent in 2 languages - French and Spanish."
