OMG and the man in the purple robe turns out to be lord Alvin, who we’ve seen signage about for like 50 pages now. The payoff is just insane with this book.

Ok and then they get captured and the crowd parts and out comes a HUGE Neanderthal, and two big dudes carrying a man on a toilet throne who has long blonde hair and a long blonde beard who is seemingly their king. Mccammons storytelling is so incredible I laughed out loud at the absurdity of this but the level of detail he gives you is incredible.

And then immediately after the intercom goes off and hordes of disfigured and/or insane people (giant and dwarf) people come running at them presumably to eat them???

Wow the scene with the department store and mannequins with real severed heads goes absolutely insane. Wow wow wow

The encounter between sister and the Doyle hallan thing was great. He really has created this seemingly ancient otherworldly force of chaos, but at the same time it’s not so powerful as to be inescapable. Loving this book.
