This second non-fiction book of stories about Brown’s life as a large animal vet in rural Maine in the 1960s-1970s is not as good as the first, and the first book was not as good as James Herriot’s books which they resemble. All the same, it’s an enjoyable quick read. The formulaic structure of the stories as short anecdotes gets redundant, but nevertheless, it’s a fascinating perspective.
