I can tell the author hasn't done a ton of research on the behaviours of the ton of 1830 England. For an unattached man to put his arm around an unattached woman was simply not done. For him to rub her back and her neck?? They basically would have to get engaged after that. And to use the word "hey"? In England? In 1830?

Ugh this book annoys me with the unrealistic behavior of the aristocrats. No lady would ever get upset and throw her embroidery across the couch. She would simply ring the bell to have the people escorted out. Anna Lee Huber please do more research on this era.
