What's up with my updates page?!?! 🤧 Most of the books popping up are cheating ones. 😭 Like, ewww! Maaan, these fictional cheaters don't deserve any redemption. Once a cheater, always a cheater. If you don't feel the same, cool. Let's just agree to disagree. Okay? Okay. But ugh, istg! These book suggestions are making me dry heave because wtf?? 😭😭😭

It’s a trend like vampires. It shall pass eventually. I enjoy them. They’re like my guilty pleasure.

Same, hate when cheaters get a second chance like no find someone else who will treat you like a Queen instead then he will regret it
Imogen wrote: "Same, hate when cheaters get a second chance like no find someone else who will treat you like a Queen instead then he will regret it"I might not totally get why some people love the idea of second chances for cheaters, but I respect those who do appreciate these stories since everyone has their own tastes. I just wish it wasn't so in-your-face, especially for those who aren't fans of that trope. 🤷♀️
Same!! I wish once I see it and add it to my ‘will never read’ list then I could block it and not have it pop back up on GR
I had the same thoughts. The cheating trope is the next big thing in romance. It used to be vampires and BDSM, now it’s this. It’s like fashion dictating that we switch from slim-fit pants to wide-leg boyfriend ones.
Colleen wrote: "Same!! I wish once I see it and add it to my ‘will never read’ list then I could block it and not have it pop back up on GR"Ugh! Same girl, but that's not how GR logic works. We're stuck dealing with this. 🤧

And it's actually weird this is taking up too much space in romance. 😑
so true, Jen!! l truly can’t comprehend how women can enjoy them 😭it’s scary how many of them are published right now too, probs these authors is just woman haters 🫣
and if ppl say “love grovel in these books” THEY LYINGGG - as there’s basically never ANY grovel in 99% of them
goodreads should really make some “show less” or “do not enjoy” button, all my recs is filled with RH, even tho there’s literally not even one book, that’s in my reads, with genre like that 🫠
when i log in, i leave with one good rec (that’s on a good day) and with 20s “do not read” 🤡
@eve It’s not about the grovel for most. It’s about the angst and the pain. They were strictly limited to chick lit realm, but now they have crossed over into pure romance, just like BDSM did. It’s trendy and it’s selling, so that’s why authors write it. They certainly aren’t women haters. Some might be. 😏 But most are just business savvy and they write what is selling.
Sorry your update page is overwhelmed with them Jen. Maybe interact with some friends who don't like cheating books and see if that helps however the hell GR figures their stuff out?

It’s..."If I wanted an opinion on my thoughts from people who enjoy this genre - I would join specific discussion about it, no? 😊 Don’t know why y’all so bend up on starting an argument with readers who have different tastes or opinions on books. Plus, main point here is completely different.
First, I do not care of “what’s this about for most”, you can read whatever you want. I mentioned specific topic I see the most and that’s gets spread for book advertisement purposes - I consider that simple misinformation. Secondly, with the way, I see these authors portray female and male characters, I can objectively form an opinion about them, especially, as you said yourself, it’s mainly a cash grab for most of them, without depth, or something that comes from personal experience. Cheating was always an existing trope in romance books, mainly as a sub-trope, main difference right now, thus why there’s many discussions about it, is about delivery and portraying. You have an option, I have mine. Best of luck.
Shannon wrote: "I yearn for the return of fated mates and absolute devotion from my MMC. I miss those days. 😁"I think most would agree that there's nothing more swoonworthy than those men who yearn and are hopelessly in love. 🤭

If I see a 5-star ARC review raving about the grovel, I'm already suspicious about it. Maybe some of the reviews were honest because these readers were satisfied with what they read. While I know some reviews are likely written just to hype up the book. Either way, at the end of the day, it's always subjective. And even if that's the case, I personally would never ever appreciate/accept a grovel from a cheater. 🤷🏽♀️
And I agree with your button options; I wish those did exist because that would save me so much time, energy, and frustration. 😂 The number of books on my NFM shelf is getting close to the number on my read shelf.
RLbooks (in and out) wrote: "Sorry your update page is overwhelmed with them Jen. Still, it takes a good amount of effort to go through the stuff on the updates page. And this could be a me thing, but reading (skimming) rant/rage reviews can be draining as heck. 😩
i feel like its a recession indicator and as a response to women seeing their worth/feminism. like they are trying to knock them down. also might be women in these situations looking for validation.

I was reading a WIP on Wattpad and the author has decided to stop writing because she was getting harrassed for not letting the MMC get a redemption arc for his emotional cheating with his wife. Its too bad apparently it was really bad. The story wasn't even that bad but the wife was kicking the hubby to cub cause it was cheating with the sister. the hills people are willing to die on lately. its ridiculous.

I wonder if folks who don't love lower angst books get equally as frustrated lol

Then again, some readers are quite vicious with their words, so maybe the mental toll isn't worth it for her. I would've loved to read her finished work, though.
RLbooks (in and out) wrote: "Jen ♥ wrote: "RLbooks (in and out) wrote: "Sorry your update page is overwhelmed with them Jen. olivia wrote: "Jen ♥ wrote: "olivia wrote: "I was reading a WIP on Wattpad and the author has decided to stop writing because she was getting harrassed for not letting the MMC get a redemption arc for his emotion..."Thank you! Might check that out one of these days. 😅 Gotta agree about G2H. Looking back, I don't even know why I thought her books were enjoyable. The men were awful, and the women pretended to find their missing backbones only to fold eventually, not even halfway through the story. But oh well, I learned my lesson; I'm not reading her works anymore unless she finally makes something good out of her/his FMCs.
OMG same! I’m so close to just blocking people whenever I constantly see them rate cheating books super high and praising the mmcs😭like no offense but I am side-eyeing them for like 2 seconds then scrolling away because…just why😭
Cathee wrote: "OMG same! Still, I’d rather not see those books showing up in my updates.😅
