Okonkwo almost shooting his wife cause she muttered something that was true is crazy! also the fact that he eats 3 meals at once, one meal each from a wife. i really enjoyed Ikemefuna in this chapter as you could see he was more like family. also him hitting his wife cause he wanted to release his surprised anger likee??? this was ch5

this book feels like a slow burn to the main aspect of the plot. However it does continually provide context about the newer characters being introduced in the book.

i’m not so sure what to think this far. the book does jump from past to present at times, often narrating what happened in the past to bring the main character to his current position. i do enjoy the lore but i often find myself questioning what i’m reading about. perhaps i’m not reading in depth enough? perhaps some of the words have fallen on deaf ears unable to decipher. we will see as i continue reading.

so far so good! it’s just been the background concerning Okonkwo and his father, whom he is embarrassed of. that entire intro formed part of the first chapter so i’m going into chapter two more optimistic!
