P207– I am convinced that the number one reason that Christians today don’t pray more is because we do not grasp the connection between prayer and the promises of God. We are trying to pray “because we are supposed to“ without a living faith in the promises of God concerning prayer. No prayer life of any significance can be maintained by this “ought to“ approach. There must be faith in God.

P169. We need to pray for those things that God can do. David prayed in Psalm 51. God, you give me a pure heart. God, you renew a steadfast spirit within me. God, you grant me a willing spirit to sustain me. Don’t let me fluctuate, Lord. Keep me strong.
