There's already so much drama between the scientists lol. But they really went all out... oceanographers, animal behaviorists, sign language experts, organic chemists, the ship technology. It all doesn't matter if the mermaids get them though 😬

Woah, I did not expect Jason to die like that. Not from one of the sirens, but from the poison of one of the tiny creatures in their hair 👀 He was so excited to be published, too
We’re still waiting for this mermaid showdown, but they think the mermaids communicate verbally through mimicry
Once again, some of the dialogue and jokes feel out of place since the rest reads so scientific :/

The mermaids (mermen rather?) are all grouping up, planning to mount an attack in different line formations, while they are all sitting ducks dissecting one in a lab. They’re acting like they have so much time lol. I guess they know deep down that they’re all going to die 😬
I will say, the romance is out of place, and it’s taking me out of the book. Also, repetition of sinuous line of a back 🙄

The mermaids claimed more victims… those poor dolphins 😢😭
They managed to trap one in the tank, and now they’re trying to sign and communicate with it. I know trying to escape would be futile at this point, but why are they literally doing nothing?? Like they’re all going to die. The mermaids sent their scouts and now they’re going to go in for the hunt 😬

The mermaids communicating via signs and sound is really cool. I’m interested to see if they figure out what type of creature they are. Are they sentient??
Seeing the dolphins is making me want to quit college and become a dolphin expert/trainer. They’re amazing

Nothing could have prepared me for that. That was actually sickening. Watching her try to escape as the mermaids kept attacking her pod and all the warnings kept going off. And then her pod starting to sink and the water starting to come in 😥

They’re all sailing/diving into the waters around the Mariana Trench, and I can’t help but feel something bad is going to happen. Especially since the shutters are not working 😬
And the fish being lured and trapped by the mermaids, like they’re definitely here 👀
It’s cool how they all have their own little research labs onboard though

Is this going to be a disaster? Probably. Bc I don't think they are really prepared for what's out there. But it will be interesting to see this research I guess 🤷🏻♀️

This reads so scientific, it’s so interesting!! The water, climate change, the sea creatures, the sounds, Tory’s research… it’s all so cool. I wish marine biologists were more in demand, it seems like a cool career path

Also, I do not like the animal hunters they have on board. They're so gross ew. And the way they're going to use dolphins to scope out the area before going in?? Like why are we sacrificing innocent animals who do not have the power to say no?? And they are conveniently not telling people, because they know it's wrong smh. I thought Theo was better than that, but he's just Golden's assistant I guess

But I do like how Tory just said no to the camera and walked away. She and Jillian are already standing their ground like the scientists they are. I'm excited to see their relationship develop over this trip
